Martres-Tolosane confit jar - authentic southern French from the 1800s
A beautiful and rare confit jar from Martres-Tolosane in southwest France, made in the late 1800s. The jar is in excellent condition and bears clear traces of craftsmanship and age, giving it an authentic vintage look. The number on the bottom indicates the size of the jar with a 2.
Martres-Tolosane was known for its high-quality clay on the banks of the Garonne River, where the production of earthenware was done with care. Originally used to store duck fat, the jar was later also used for fruits and vegetables - a classic part of southern French country cooking.
