Barbontine plate from Salins
A beautiful and colorful French barbotine plate from Salins-les-Bains, made in the late 19th or early 20th century (the Art Nouveau period).
The plate is decorated with a detailed relief motif of a long-tailed bird perched on a branch, surrounded by hibiscus flowers. A particularly distinctive feature of Salins is the stunning, glossy glaze in an intense turquoise-blue background color, which contrasts beautifully with the deep pink and purple hues of the flowers.
