Oyster plate from Proceram - light blue earthenware from the 1950s

Beautiful vintage oyster plate from Proceram, made in France in the 1950s. The plate is in a delicate light blue glaze with room for six oysters and is a fine example of the elegant French faience of the time, where function and aesthetics merge.

In the mid-20th century, Proceram created a range of colorful and stylish earthenware plates that today are coveted collectors' items. Oysters were an important part of French food culture and these specialty plates were used both in homes and restaurants to beautifully present the shellfish.
