About the brûlot tradition
Brûlot is a traditional French way of serving coffee with cognac - a ritualistic drink where sugar soaked in cognac is lit and burns in the saucer. The flames heat up the coffee and when they die out, the rest is poured into the cup, creating an intense and aromatic experience. This cup is therefore not only a beautiful piece of porcelain, but also a testament to French café and drinking culture in the 19th century.
