A rare and highly collectible French bistro object from around the turn of the century. This white porcelain pyrogène with fine gold details and blue lettering originally served as both a match holder and a striking surface in French cafes.
The grooved upper section is used for striking matches, while the text advertises "Frémy Fils - Eaux-de-vie et Liqueurs".
